| Abstract |
This document comprises a summary of a German intelligence dossier (14 pages in English translation) and one-page general summary of the activities of one Heinrich Kremer, a German Catholic priest who served the Gestapo as a spy. Kremer, whose cover name was V-Mann Sixtus (coded as V.21, and later as G O1 21), reported internal Church affairs and, more importantly, the attitudes of Catholic clergy and parishioners to the Gestapo. As reflected by the excerpts presented here, Kremer's reports began on 7 November 1941 and continued until 23 January 1945 (as each report is dated, it is impractical to provide a complete list). The excerpts are not translations of Kremer's original reports, but epitomes constructed from summaries made by Scheiderich. The excerpts range from a single sentence identifying an item submitted (such as a Church circular or brochure) to a paragraph characterizing the Kremer's report and summarizing its chief points; some excerpts offer an element of background or context, and occasionally a word of interpretation. Certain compelling or inimitable points are quoted. This document is a typewritten carbon copy of good to fair quality. The paper is thin and slightly browning, but generally stable. |
