Contents: The American Institute of Philanthropy (AIP) is a nationally prominent charity watchdog service whose purpose is to help donors make informed giving decisions. The Institute’s website promotes its Charity Rating Guide and Charity Watchdog Report, both of which inform donors about how approximately 500 national charities spend their funds, and keep readers up-to-date on current issues related to charitable giving. While both of these publications are available by subscription only, the Institute’s website does provide a list of charities which get high grades from the AIP. The Index of Top-Rated Charities is broken down into categories such as “International Relief and Development,” and “Consumer Protection and Legal Aid.” The AIP’s site also provides an index of all charities covered in its Guide in its “A to Z Charity Listing.” Finally, the site offers “Tips for Giving Wisely” along with other sample articles from AIP publications. |
