Contents: Cardiff, a teaching and research university located in Wales, offers the Cardiff Index to Legal Abbreviations. English language legal publications from Britain, the Commonwealth, and the United States are indexed. The database focuses on law reports and legal periodicals, while various legislative and textbooks are also included. In developing the database, numerous “preferred citation” guides were consulted, including The Bluebook, the Manual of Legal Citations from the University of London, and the Australian Guide to Legal Citation. Many other guides, digests, and indices were also consulted in preparing the database. Users may search from abbreviation to title, or from title to abbreviation. Title searches include phrase and keyword capability. When searching by abbreviation, users may select either an exact or close match. Entries are enhanced with data gleaned from the library catalogs of Harvard, Oxford, and other major institutions. |
