Contents: Appleseed is a public interest non-profit organization “dedicated to building a just society” via education, community activism, legal advocacy, and policy expertise. Appleseed has established a network of local public interest law centers known as Appleseed Centers. These Centers are a major provider of pro bono legal services and address such areas as public education, child welfare, health care, and immigration. Appleseed draws on the talents of private practice attorneys, corporate counsel, civic leaders and others. The website is organized into several sections. The Centers section provides a directory of current Appleseed Centers with links to their websites. Centers can be found in New York, Connecticut, Chicago, and parts of the Deep South and Midwest. The Issues section of the site provides in-depth explanation of Appleseed’s various projects. The Publications section provides access to a variety of material, much of which is available in PDF. The publications cover topics such as immigrant access to financial services, New York City teacher recruitment, and school facilities. The site also offers ways to get involved and to stay informed. |
