Contents: Described as the “newest resource guide developed specifically for Indian country,” the Tribal Justice and Safety in Indian Country website is a project of the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ). The goals of the site are to improve safety in tribal communities and to help educate the public about issues of justice in Indian Country. The site is organized into multiple components covering training and technical assistance, crime prevention, DOJ initiatives, and research and statistics. General information about Federal law that is of interest to American Indians is available in the “Government-to-Government” section. In the other sections of the site, users will find links to organizations and departments, as well as various bureaus within DOJ, all providing information for the specific audience. Users will also find links to a variety of DOJ publications covering topics from youth gangs in Indian Country to Native American sentencing issues. Overall, the site provides a gateway to documents, websites, and various resources applicable to tribal justice. |
