Contents: The Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, in conjunction with the Australasian Legal Information Institute (AustLII), provides the Australian Treaties Database. The purpose of the website is to be “an online resource for researching treaties to which Australia is a signatory, or where Australia has taken other treaty action.” The database holds bibliographic records describing each treaty available; each record links to treaty text, which is maintained on the AustLII server. The database may be searched by subject, date, agreement type, or keyword. Searches may be narrowed by status, including not yet in force, in force, or no longer in force. When searching bilateral treaties, users may narrow their search to the specific country with which the treaty was entered. In addition to the database, the site provides explanation of treaties and the treaty-making process.
