Contents: According to its mission statement, the National Association for Rights Protection And Advocacy (NARPA) is committed to the advocacy for and protection of the rights of the mentally ill by abolishing all “forced treatment” laws, exposing abuses of those receiving mental health services, and promoting alternatives to the current mental health system. Their web page contains links to the organization’s newsletters and press releases, a subjective history of mental health advocacy, as well as NARPA’s mission statement. Legal researchers would be interested in their page “The ADA Case of the Week” and its archive, which analyze recent pertinent appellate decisions regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act in light of how they affect the rights of the mentally ill. These lengthy analyses, which seem to be published monthly, contain numerous citations and hyperlinks to the full-text of referenced cases hosted offsite. |
