Contents: The National Conference of Commissioners on Uniform State Laws (NCCUSL) has worked for the uniformity of state laws since 1892. The commissioners include state legislators, practitioners, judges, and law professors. The site provides information on uniform laws recommended by the NCCUSL for enactment by the states. The NCCUSL offers a list of individuals to provide assistance with testimony, hearings, expert witnesses and distribution of written materials to committee members. Texts of drafts and final uniform and model acts, official prefatory notes, and comments by the NCCUSL are available separately at the University of Pennsylvania web site, http://www.law.upenn.edu/bll/ulc/ulc_frame.htm. The NCCUSL website offers drafts, memos and meeting agendas associated with the drafting projects currently in progress. Projects include Apportionment of Tort Liability and modification to Uniform Commercial Code articles 1, 2, 2A, 3,4,4A, and 7. A drafting manual is available in PDF format. A list of "Topics under Discussion" includes misuse of genetic information, the impact of electronic payments systems on the Commercial Code and other Uniform Acts, and the privacy and security issues embracing the Internet. In addition, there are links to the American Bar Association, Council of State Governments, National Conference of State Legislatures, and the Task Force on Revised UCC9 Enactment Process. While the site does not include a search engine, there is a site map to facilitate navigation. |
