Contents: The Violence Against Women Office is an agency of the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs. Material on its community programs is posted in the form of model programs and numerous reports and bulletins (available in text or PDF). The website contains a selection of federal laws and regulations pertaining to violence against women and girls, such as the text of Megan's Law, and INS guidelines for assessing the needs of battered immigrant women (taken from the Federal Register and CFR), as well as Dept. of Justice research and statistical publications on domestic violence, workplace violence, and elder and child abuse. Among the statistical materials made available are the original codebooks and datasets (in ASCII text). The website also provides links to online resources and texts of many reports addressed to criminal justice practitioners and social service professionals, in such areas as law enforcement, judicial response, Native Americans and tribal law, and child protection. |
