Contents: SCADPlus publicizes the activities of the European Union (EU) in a broad range of areas, from agriculture, trade, external relations, employment, humanitarian aid, and justice, to sports and fraud, each broken down in to sub-categories. Each section lists EU reports and whether the text has been published in the Official Journal. Other issues examined are the proposed enlargement of the Union, requiring resolution of ethnic discrimination, nuclear safety, and getting prospective members in line with EU legislation and standards (e.g. in freedom of the press). Coverage for each topic varies, depending on EU involvement; documents include action plans, special programs, and links to EU agencies. Of interest are the analyses of the candidate countries' impact upon the Union and willingness to conform to EU standards, for each of the subject areas.
