Contents: The American Immigration Law Foundation offers "education, policy analysis and support to litigators" in the field of immigration law. Most of the website is given to promoting the value of immigration, documenting the achievement of immigrants, with special sections on important ethnic groups, and a gallery of notable immigrants in U.S. history and today. The policy reports are brief articles on topics such as immigrants in the military, student visas, the recent convention with Mexico, and the economic value provided by undocumented workers. Also included are statistics from the 2000 Census and links to the text of legislation and the Federal Register. Other links point to websites for legal research, public policy, the U.S. government (e.g. the Departments of Justice and Labor), the Census, and human rights and immigration law groups. Of most interest to legal practitioners is the Legal Action Center section, which contains documentation from the Foundation on immigration and asylum cases: briefs, memoranda, practice advisories, and sample motions. Most of the material is from the previous presidential administration. The website is upbeat and pro-immigration, easily used by the public (community leaders, industry, employers, activists, cultural historians), and a good resource for secondary schools. |
