Contents: Prevent Genocide International (PGI), established in 1998, is a nonprofit educational organization seeking to eliminate genocide. The website is a project of PGI that disseminates, in nine languages, current and comprehensive educational information. The site has multiple components covering Law, Prevention, Punishment, among others. The Law section provides access to international and domestic laws relating to genocide. The text of the Genocide Convention is available, as well as translations in thirty-five languages. Also, the ratification status and reservations to the Convention are provided. The domestic law offerings include relevant laws and penal codes from over forty countries. Links to these laws are organized by region of the world. The Prevention and Punishment sections provide additional material of value to researchers. In addition to global news and articles on preventing genocide, the Prevention component offers numerous United Nations documents, including Secretary General Annan’s recent Stockholm Proposals and the Whitaker Report. The Punishment section links to numerous websites and articles relevant to domestic and international efforts to punish genocide. Although the site’s presentation of its significant content can be overwhelming, it is a great resource for international and foreign legal research.
