Contents: The Minnesota Center Against Violence and Abuse (MINCAVA) has a mission “to support research, education, and access to violence related resources.” MINCAVA coordinates four projects, one of which is the Electronic Clearinghouse. The purpose of the Clearinghouse is to provide various violence-related educational materials including syllabi, published research, funding sources, information on training events and other materials. The site is organized into three sections: “read,” “find,” and “act.” On the main page, under each of these headings, are sub-sections that link to specific content. Of great value is the “read” section linking to articles, training resources, multimedia, and bibliographies. Material within each of these groups is organized by topic, such as child abuse, domestic violence, or workplace violence. Individual items are listed with a description and link to a full text document, often in PDF. The “find” section provides information on organizations, service providers, experts, courses, and research centers. When appropriate, items within these groupings are organized topically with descriptions and links to full text. The “act” section includes an events calendar and information on funding opportunities. On the main page, users will find a Google-powered search feature to aid in searching the site’s significant content. |
